Frequently-Asked Questions

How do I apply for the Masters of Software Engineering?

The online application form and list of required documents can be found at http://www.ut.ee/software

I have done all my university studies in English. Do I still have to submit a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge certificate with my application?

The TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge certificate is required for ALL students except the following ones:

  • Students who completed their Bachelors degree in USA, Canada, UK, Ireland Australia or New Zealand, or in any European Union country if the main language of instruction was English.
  • Students who completed their secondary education in an International secondary school (with instruction in English)
  • Students who have successfully studied at University of Tartu as an exchange student
  • Estonian students who have completed the National English Language test with a score of 70 or above

In all other cases, you need to submit a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge certificate. In particular, if you completed your studies in an Asian, African, Latin-American or Caribbean country, you need to provide a TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge certificate, even if your language of instruction was English.

Is there any financial aid available for studying in this Masters program and am I eligible for such financial aid?

Scholarships are available for students who rank at the top of the list during the admission process. This ranking is based on the grade list of the student in his/her previous degrees. There is no separate procedure to apply for these scholarships. All students who are admitted in the program are automatically candidates for these scholarships. The scholarships are of EUR 2550 per academic year.

I have previously completed another Masters program. Is there a possibility of transferring credits into the Masters of Software Engineering from my previous Masters

We normally do not provide credit transfer from Masters degrees. If you already hold a Masters, we recommend that you apply for a PhD program instead.
